About Me
Welcome to my little nook of the internet, Megmade with Love!
I'm Megan Shaimes. A crafty Kansas gal with a strong desire to CREATE almost anything I can get my hands on. I enjoy incorporating my handmade lifestyle into just about all aspects of my life. I'm a dreamer, a Grade A introvert, and most importantly a Christ follower.
Ever since I can remember I've loved making things. I used to beg for those fun bead art kits at Walmart every birthday, or take my embroidery string to daycare and sell my friendship bracelets to the other kids (ha!). I've dabbled in just about every medium of arts and crafts, from woodworking and painting to crochet and sewing. Seriously-- making stuff really is my "thing"!
God blessed me with just about the craftiest (that counts as a word around here) mother ever, who taught me all she knew and instilled many of the DIY qualities I have today. She taught me how to crochet in grade school, bought me my first sewing machine at age 10, and sent me to school with the coolest, most creative handmade party favors every holiday. I say all of this not at random, but because I believe she really is a huge part of why I enjoy creating things so much.
My family. Ah, my little family. I've been blessed with a hunk of husband who enjoys working on diesels and really anything with a motor. He tries to talk to me about "pistons" and "cylinders" and I just nod and smile (kinda like his reaction when I talk about yarn or Hobby Lobby). He is a great supporter of anything I do, and I'm thankful for that. He's very much my opposite, and we balance each other out nicely. I'm so glad I have him.
This past year we welcomed our son, Sawyer into our world. Being his mom is something else-- it brings me a crazy amount of joy! I had no idea I would love the job of mom as much as I do. I love watching his little personality bud. He's super outgoing and funny. He's great (not to mention the most adorable model ever).
Overall, I want to inspire others to flex their creative muscles, and to see everyday things in a new fun and interesting way. The stuff you can expect to see on my blog will be a little quirky, imaginative and hopefully encouraging! I'd love if you followed along as I attempt to make the world a little bit more "Megmade". :)
