How to Make a Yarn Tassel with Your Hand

I've found myself repeatedly doing a tutorial for how to make tassels, so I decided to create an official post for how to make these little guys. Mostly for my sanity, so I can just link to this whenever I need to include it in a pattern. :)

This method is super easy, and I use it for basically all of my tassels.

To start, start running yarn around your hand until it's the thickness you'd like. For this particular tassel I wrapped it around my hand 20 times. Then you'll cut the yarn at the bottom of your hand.

Slip the wrapped yarn off your hand and run a long strand through the top of your bunch of yarn. Sometimes I tie a knot on the top, other times I don't. It depends on the pattern.

Then wrap a 15-inch or so piece of yarn around the outside of your bunch of yarn about an inch from the top. Tie a knot, then wrap both the ends to the other side and tie a double knot.

The above photo is what it will look like. Then you will take those ends that you just double-knotted along with a yarn needle and draw them through what you just wrapped so they aren't sticking out.

Next, cut the ends of your tassel, and shape them up so all the ends are even.

Then you've got yourself an easy-peasy tassel! Go you!

The Huge List of Yarn Storage Inspiration and Tutorials (Great for On a Budget!)

Today I'm bringing you the biggest and most inspirational list of yarn storage ideas!!

I searched high and low to bring you some of my favorite ideas when it comes to displaying (or even hiding) your treasured yarn. This list was also good for me personally, because I currently have just about the WORST storage going on for my yarn. It is literally all thrown in a huge tupperware bucket in my spare bedroom closet (and no, it's not nicely tossed in there) I'm convinced its all starting to knot itself together into one big yarn ball. Ah!! haha

I just look at it every time I'm ready to start a new project and think... that is way too big of a project for me to tackle right now. It happens every time. So one of these ideas listed here is gonna have to be implemented in my life soon. I can't decide which one is my favorite though! With our current situation-- renting a duplex, I can't really have any fancy displays, because we don't have much room. So it'd probably have to be something I can tuck away somewhere. But whenever we do own our first house it'd be nice to build (or refurbish) a nice display.

Anyways, enough about my yarn woes. Here's the awesome list! The links to the tutorials or inspiration photos are below the pictures. Just click the word "here".

P.S. Most of these have tutorials and plans on how to make the unit of storage, which is a total plus! And great if you're on a budget!!
